2020 Birmingham is a coalition of churches and organisations working together in the Birmingham area in church planting initiatives.
Story so far
It all began in 2010 as a result of a series of conversations with leaders from a range of different church backgrounds. We acknowledged that the need in Birmingham wasn’t going to be met by us all working independently. We committed to partnering together to actively recruit, train, mentor and resource church planters with the hope of seeing 20 new church planting churches established by the year 2020. We’re also looking to work to renew and revive struggling churches and we’re beginning to think a little more strategically about how to reach new people groups in the city – whether that’s through social action projects or working into ethnically diverse areas.
Jonathan Bell (Churchcentral) and Neil Powell (City Church) share the vision behind 2020 Birmingham:

Our partnership with Church Central and others through Birmingham 2020 has been a source of real blessing that runs deeper than token expressions of unity; but a kingdom minded working on mission together for the sake of the city.
Should I not be concerned about that great city?
