Jesus, Our Great High Priest
Hebrews 4:14-16
Jesus is our Great High Priest. Because of him we can approach God's throne of grace with boldness. Great news! However, it does raise some big questions- why couldn't we approach God's throne with boldness anyway? Why do we need a great High Priest at all? And why is this whole subject so important both in the letter to the Hebrews and to us today?

Do you love Jesus?
Hebrews 2:5-18
At the centre of the whole Bible, is this question: ‘Do you love Jesus?’. In this passage, the writer to the Hebrews seeks to grow our love by painting a glorious, technicolour picture of the Son of God.

Leaving a legacy of people
2 Kings 2:1-15
Elijah was a man who made a mark and left a legacy. As his life ends (kind of!) we see that legacy, and it is not just a legacy of famous deeds and mighty miracles, but it's a legacy of people. Jonny explores how we can learn from Elijah in this by rejecting the lone ranger method of changing the world, and look to make our mark by investing in those around us.

We Can Be Like Elijah!
1 Kings 18:41-46
James 5:17-18 makes it very clear that Elijah isn't a spiritual superhero to gawp at, but an example to emulate. While our exploits of faith may look very different to his, we too are called to walk in his footsteps to advance God's kingdom in our lives and the key way we can do that is by putting prayer at the centre of our lives, as he did.

A Different Kind of Kindness
1 Kings 17:17-24
As Elijah gears up for his return to public ministry in Israel, he encounters a tragedy and responds with incredible kindness. What he models is a challenge to all of us to act the same: to keep our eyes open to the need around us and respond with kindness- a costly, selfless, compassionate kindness that is totally at odds with the expectations of the society around us.
