The first judge of ‘The Judges’ is Othniel. In this short synopsis of his career, we see a template of all that is to come, but also we are confronted with a story of sin, slavery and deliverance that summarises the universal Christian message, and a picture of what ‘sin’ actually is that shows why God thinks it is such a big deal.
