Get Ready To Suffer (And Be Very Glad!)
1 Peter 3:8-18, 4:1-4, 12-19
The idea of suffering for our faith is something that in the present climate seems to be becoming a more immediate possibility. The same was true of the first readers of 1 Peter, and Peter’s advice to them is incredibly relevant to us today, especially the seemingly strange exhortation- to ‘be very glad’.

Shining For Jesus By Submitting For Jesus
1 Peter 2:13-3:7
This passage of the Bible *SEEMS* to support slavery, the patriarchy and passivity in the face of corrupt rulers. How can this be good news for us today? Jonathan unpacks Peter's thinking, showing some crucial context and encouraging each of us to Christlikeness in the face of opposition.

Jesus' prayer for unity
John 17:1-26
John 17 is a bit like Jesus' deathbed prayer so the things he prays here are things he felt were of the utmost importance. As we delve into this mighty prayer we see a challenge to pray like Jesus but also a challenge to action- to press on to maturity for unity so that the world might think better of Jesus.

The Prayer of Prayers
Matthew 6:9-13
As we come to ‘the prayer that Jesus himself taught us’, we must not be over familiar or sentimental about it. This is no optional life hack to boost our prayer life. This is a model of how we can have a relationship with God, such as Jesus has. But it also challenges us to accept God’s terms. This is a prayer treasure trove, and if we let it shape and mould our lives we will be transformed, and so will the world around us.

Show me a sign!
Judges 6 & 7
Many of us have asked God for a sign before. Sometimes our requests may have been inspired by Gideon's rather novel use of a fleece! However, is that really what we learn from the story of Gideon? Jonny explains how God is actually just as eager to look for signs from us, and that whatever 'fleeces' we may construct for him, it is our obedience that is always most important in guiding our lives in the right direction.

Fighting with God
Genesis 32:22-32
The popular stereotype of a Christian is of a gentle, quiet, unassertive person. Most of the heroes in the Bible on the other hand are fighters! Christians should learn then to 'fight' in the right way, and this is particularly true in our prayer lives.
